6 Reasons to Visit Cabo San Lucas
Cabo San Lucas is a premier vacation spot, complete with balmy weather, beautiful beaches, and stunning hotels. But it’s not all beaches and sunshine – one of the best things about Cabo San Lucas is that there’s something for everyone. Here are six reasons why Cabo San Lucas should be on your list of places to see.
The fishing. Forget Mexico – Cabo San Lucas has some of the best fishing anywhere. Located where the Pacific merges with the Sea of Cortez, it’s earned acclaim as the “Marlin Capital of the World.” The nutrients kicked up by the merging oceans attract an abundance of other species as well, including sailfish, swordfish, tuna, Dorado, and more. There are plenty of excellent charter and sport-fishing companies, plus some excellent restaurants that will cook and serve your catch to you at the end of the day.
The golf. If you enjoy golf, there’s no better place to be than Cabo San Lucas. The area boasts a large number of world-renowned golf courses, and the beautiful seaside scenery can’t be beat. If you’re taking a golf trip in Los Cabos, don’t miss the Cabo del Sol – it was designed by Jack Nicklaus himself. According to Nicklaus, this course has the three best finishing holes anywhere in the world.
The weather. A year-round spring and summer climate – what’s not to love? Cabo San Lucas has warm, tropical weather, with ocean temperatures that range from the low 70’s to the high 80’s, depending on the season. Most tourists book trips in the winter months between November and June, to avoid high humidity and the rainy season. Avid fisherman, however, tend to book in the summer months for the peak fishing season.
The beaches. Cabo San Lucas has a wealth of beautiful beaches for every taste. Medano Beach is a party scene, with a wealth of bars and shops lining the area. Beachgoers here tend to be young and plentiful; it’s a place to see and be seen. If you’re looking for something more secluded, there’s always Lover’s Beach. You’ll need to hire a water taxi to get there, but it’s worth it. It’s located where the Sea of Cortes meets the Pacific Ocean, and the currents can be treacherous – swim only at the Sea of Cortes side.
The shopping. In Cabo San Lucas, the best shopping is clustered around the marina. There, you can find everything from typical tourist fare such as T-shirts and shot glasses to handmade Mexican crafts. Among the handicrafts you’ll find beautiful woven materials from Oaxaca; the beadwork of the Hulchot Indians; handcrafted pottery from Guanajato, and more. You can also find beautiful Mexican Fire Opal jewelry; many shops will custom-design unique items just for you.
The luxury. There are many luxurious hotels and resorts in Cabo San Lucas. One of the best is the Villa La Estancia, where you can buy a luxury villa or condo, invest in a timeshare, or simply rent a suite or room for a temporary stay. It’s one of the few vacation rental communities located directly on the beach. Many lodgings in Cabo San Lucas offer extras such as spa packages, guided tours and concierge services, and more.
