Another Great Year for Bisbee's
The crew of the Cap’n Jake saved the best for last by catching the winning fish moments before the end of the tournament taking the Day 3 Marlin Jackpots with a 341 lbs blue marlin, beating out the second place catch by more than 30 lbs. The Day 3 earnings were almost $80,000.
Even with that hefty jackpot, the Cap’n Jake did not take the most prize money home. The Day 3 runner up, Mi Corazon, caught a 310 lbs blue marlin on Day 2, winning both the Day 1 and Day 2 jackpots for a total of $124,784.60. Not a bad, not bad at all. Mi Corazon has won big at Bisbee’s before. In 2006, came in first when they caught a 418 lbs blue marlin (a record shared with Copa Gobernador for the biggest blue marlin in the 10 year history of the tournament).
Though the seas were rough and tuna was scarce, fishing was consistent thought the tournament with catches including 36 blue marlin, 1 black marlin, 37 striped marlin, and 27 sailfish and a 95% release ratio.
The excitement of Bisbee’s is far from over. Though the East Cape Offshore Tournament is over, the Los Cabos and Black and Blue Tournaments are still to come.
