From Shopping to Snorkeling: What to Do on a Cabo San Lucas Vacation

If you’re planning a Cabo San Lucas vacation, you’re in for a treat.  There’s a wealth of things to do, both on land and on sea.  If you prefer an urban, cultured vacation, you may spend most of your time exploring boutique shops, tasting local gourmet cuisine, and hitting the bars.  If you love excitement and adventure, there’s always parasailing, horseback riding, ATV tours, and more.  Here are just a few of many things you can do on a Cabo San Lucas vacation.

Water sports.  At Cabo San Lucas, there’s no shortage of things to do on the water. If you love adrenaline-pumping excitement, you’ll have a blast parasailing, waterskiing, and jet-skiing.  If peaceful and tranquil is more your speed, a yacht trip may be just the thing.  And if you love exploring underwater, you won’t want to miss the scuba diving and snorkeling.  Whatever your taste, you’re sure to find a water sport to match.

Sport fishing.  Cabo San Lucas is one of the world’s top vacation destinations for sport fishermen.  The area attracts plenty of sailfish, swordfish, tuna, Dorado, and marlin, and there are hundreds of fishing charter companies that will be happy to put a reel in your hand and send you off on an unforgettable fishing trip.  If you love fishing, there’s no better place for your next vacation.

Golf.  Many visitors vacation here purely for the golf.  There are eight world-class golf courses between Cabo San Lucas and its neighbor, San Jose del Cabo.  Several were designed by famous golf architects such as Robert Trent Jones and Tom Weiskopf.  The balmy weather, stunning ocean views, and challenging courses make Cabo San Lucas a vacation haven for golfers.

Eco-tours.  Love the outdoors? Then you’ll love the stunning landscape of Baja California Sur.  From mountain biking to ultra-light plane tours, sea kayaking to jeep safaris, there are plenty of ways to get close to nature on your vacation.  Explore the beautiful Baja interior, including estuaries, mountains, and desert terrain.  Or experience the oceans through sea kayaking, whale watching, snorkeling, and more.

Relax by the beach.  The oceans around Cabo San Lucas can be treacherous - many beaches have currents far too strong for swimming.  Luckily, the town is near Medano Beach, one of the area’s best safe-swimming beaches.  Medano is at the center of the action, lined with bars and shops and thronging with partygoers.  If you’d prefer a more tranquil scene, take a water taxi out to Lover’s Beach and enjoy the secluded natural beauty to be found there.

Explore the hotel.  There are hundreds of luxury hotels in the area, some with so many amenities that it’s possible to spend a day simply exploring all the hotel has to offer.  At the Villa La Estancia, for example, guests have access to stunning multi-level pools with waterfalls, Jacuzzis and swim-up bars; a world-class European spa; several gourmet restaurants and bars; private lighted tennis courts; and more.  In addition, the condos and villas for rent there often include private balconies, in-suite Jacuzzi tubs, and plasma-screen TV’s.

There’s truly something for everyone in Cabo San Lucas. Whether you love the urban nightlife or the rural night sky, the sultry pleasures of the beach or the excitement of outdoor sports, you’re sure to find something to love during your Cabo San Lucas vacation.
